I grew up in a rather artistic family. My mother was an artist and my step-father was a furniture artist. I was constantly helping them send out invitations to their gallery openings and art showings. I was always the youngest person in attendance starting at the ripe age of 4 years old. But seeing all of the different art and meeting all of the artists was always fun and exciting.
There were always paintings around our house and a stash of art supplies within an arms reach. Art projects were never just something that was done for a school project; they were things to spend your time on while relaxing and talking to the people that you love.
I have been drawing and painting since I could hold a pencil and my mom always kept a pad of paper and a pen in her purse so that we could draw little pictures whenever we had a free moment. Through the years, I have drawn and painted many things but nothing has caught my interest quite like my randoms shapes that I have everywhere now. They have become my own personal landscape.
People have asked me many times if I sell my art, but I always declined, saying that they were just what I spent my free time doing. However, more and more people began to ask if I would sell my art and one day, my husband had finally heard enough of the questions. He gave me one month to collect enough pieces to have an art show with as many of my paintings and drawings as possible. Not to mention that there were a few paintings that he wanted to see finished as well.
I currently have a "real" job in addition to my painting which I enjoy very much. It also helps keep me out of the "starving artist" category!
The general information about me is that I am a lover of life. I love to laugh and I find humor in most things along with a silver lining, no matter how faint it may be. I have a deep love for my family and I completely consider my pets to be a part of that family. I have two dogs, two dwarf rabbits and a large happy cat. I have tattoos and see them as permanent art I can carry with me everywhere. Each has a purpose and meaning.
I love to learn about new things all the time and I find it strange to not be in school anymore. I now read for pure enjoyment though, which I love!
A motto that I live by came from First Sergeant Harmon while in AJROTC at Lamar High School, "Just keep smiling and let them wonder." So keep smiling!
